Bicycle Shopping list

by aaron on September 6, 2009

It looks like biking season is winding down here in the Northeast (I would say it’s going to end October 31st). I’ve had a good time biking this year and I look forward to doing more next year when I have the “full” season (starting in late March).

I have begun to take stock in what I need for next year and have come up with some things both in bike gear and clothiing that I would like to get for next season and it’s in no particular order:

  • Saddle Bags
  • Gloves
  • Bicycle Jerseys
  • Mini tire pump
  • Seat bag
  • Loose fitting bicycle shorts (does such a thing exist??)
  • A more comfortable bicycle seat

Am I crazy? Am I missing anything else? Let me know in the comments.

Going the distance

by aaron on July 2, 2009

I did another 12 mile ride yesterday, it’s the 4th ride that I did this week and I have averaged 13 miles per ride while I have been on vacation (I am thinking about taking a day off today but like my “day off” yesterday it is subject to change). Yesterday I started thinking that it may be time to expand my riding a bit past my 12 and 14 miles I have been doing. My friend Duncan suggested that I up it to 30 miles which seems doable if not aggressive and I would be OK with that. I’m also really honored that friends and resellers want to go on rides with me.

I have one concern about stretching out my rides. That is right now I mainly use my bike to go back and forth to work and the ride is about 6-7 miles each way, depending on how many bike paths/bike lanes you take. And the problem is that I don’t know how I can stretch that out any more, considering my time constraints (especially in the morning).

I guess what I could do is have one really longer ride on Sunday and start from there.

First Bike Ride to Work

June 1, 2009

Wow, what a day today. If you haven’t already heard, I did my inaugural bike ride to the office today. I’d have to say that overall it went very well. The one thing that I didn’t take into account was that there are some hills that I have to climb. In the morning this posed [...]

Sunday Biking

May 24, 2009

This afternoon, I took my first bike ride since I rode my bike home. It was 4 miles each way at took me about 40 minutes or so. It was good to ride again and I’m a little frustrated that I won’t be able to ride again until next Sunday since I’ll be on the [...]

Biking

May 20, 2009

As I mentioned in my last non twitter update post, I decided to buy a bike so that I can ride it to and from work on the days when I’m in the office. My friend Dan had an interesting question that I hope to address in a later post but this is post is [...]
