It looks like biking season is winding down here in the Northeast (I would say it’s going to end October 31st). I’ve had a good time biking this year and I look forward to doing more next year when I have the “full” season (starting in late March).
I have begun to take stock in what I need for next year and have come up with some things both in bike gear and clothiing that I would like to get for next season and it’s in no particular order:
- Saddle Bags
- Gloves
- Bicycle Jerseys
- Mini tire pump
- Seat bag
- Loose fitting bicycle shorts (does such a thing exist??)
- A more comfortable bicycle seat
Am I crazy? Am I missing anything else? Let me know in the comments.
I did another 12 mile ride yesterday, it’s the 4th ride that I did this week and I have averaged 13 miles per ride while I have been on vacation (I am thinking about taking a day off today but like my “day off” yesterday it is subject to change). Yesterday I started thinking that it may be time to expand my riding a bit past my 12 and 14 miles I have been doing. My friend Duncan suggested that I up it to 30 miles which seems doable if not aggressive and I would be OK with that. I’m also really honored that friends and resellers want to go on rides with me.
I have one concern about stretching out my rides. That is right now I mainly use my bike to go back and forth to work and the ride is about 6-7 miles each way, depending on how many bike paths/bike lanes you take. And the problem is that I don’t know how I can stretch that out any more, considering my time constraints (especially in the morning).
I guess what I could do is have one really longer ride on Sunday and start from there.
