Going the distance

by aaron on July 2, 2009

I did another 12 mile ride yesterday, it’s the 4th ride that I did this week and I have averaged 13 miles per ride while I have been on vacation (I am thinking about taking a day off today but like my “day off” yesterday it is subject to change). Yesterday I started thinking that it may be time to expand my riding a bit past my 12 and 14 miles I have been doing. My friend Duncan suggested that I up it to 30 miles which seems doable if not aggressive and I would be OK with that. I’m also really honored that friends and resellers want to go on rides with me.

I have one concern about stretching out my rides. That is right now I mainly use my bike to go back and forth to work and the ride is about 6-7 miles each way, depending on how many bike paths/bike lanes you take. And the problem is that I don’t know how I can stretch that out any more, considering my time constraints (especially in the morning).

I guess what I could do is have one really longer ride on Sunday and start from there.

Sunday Biking

by aaron on May 24, 2009

This afternoon, I took my first bike ride since I rode my bike home. It was 4 miles each way at took me about 40 minutes or so. It was good to ride again and I’m a little frustrated that I won’t be able to ride again until next Sunday since I’ll be on the road this week for work (leaving tomorrow) and then Friday & Saturday are the holiday of Shavous.

Here is a view of today’s trip thanks to an awesome site that I found called Ride the City. It allows you to select a starting point, an end point and choose the kind of route you want (safest, safe or direct).

I have mapped out my trip to the office which I hope to start next week and using the direct route it only seems to be 6.1 miles. I don’t know but psychologically it seems a lot better than the 6.8 miles that the safest or safe route would wind up being. I’m not feeling so overwhelmed about the journey as I was on Friday.

Biking

May 20, 2009

As I mentioned in my last non twitter update post, I decided to buy a bike so that I can ride it to and from work on the days when I’m in the office. My friend Dan had an interesting question that I hope to address in a later post but this is post is [...]
